FOUR Frankfurt building work is underway
• The demolition permit was issued at the end of March
• Core removal works have started
• Approx. 16,000 m2 of land will be cleared
Here we go! FOUR Frankfurt, the eagerly awaited high-rise complex, is entering the construction phase at the beginning of spring. At the end of March, Frankfurt am Main’s building supervisory authority gave the go-ahead for the demolition. The gutting of the buildings on the city centre site between Junghofstrasse, Große Gallusstrasse and Neue Schlesingergasse started a few days ago. Workers and machines are working on the demolition of the site at Rossmarkt every day. According to senior site manager Roger Schmitt of GP Con GmbH, a subsidiary of Groß & Partner, some of the core removal work will be completed by the end of April, which means that the controlled dismantling of the first buildings will begin in May.
According to preliminary planning, the multi-storey car park on Neue Schlesingergasse will be removed first, followed by the parts of the building from the 1950s which face the inner courtyard. The listed façades in Junghofstrasse and the historic foyers in Junghofstrasse 11 will be secured. At the beginning of summer, the black high-rise building on Grosse Gallusstraße (built in 1971) will be demolished floor by floor, and the adjacent six-storey building opposite the Commerzbank Tower will be demolished at the same time. With the exception of the listed parts, the entire area is to be completely cleared by late summer 2018, so that civil engineering works can begin at the end of the year.
“Our entire team is looking forward to the start of the building works with great anticipation! Following intensive preliminary planning, the first visible step towards the realisation of FOUR Frankfurt, a project that will enrich the city centre in many ways, is now being taken,” says Roger Schmitt, explaining the mood among the team of the Frankfurt-based project developer.

The construction period for the four high-rise buildings, which are connected by a multi-storey plinth and an underground car park, will be about 4-5 years. The completion of FOUR Frankfurt is scheduled for 2023.
