Gastronome, entrepreneur and culinary trendsetter of the year – the list of his awards is long. No one in Frankfurt serves more guests in white-tablecloth mode than the autodidact and Frankfurt native Christian Mook.

Biography

1997
“Restaurant for rent in Frankfurt’s Westend” – Christian Cook’s career begins with a newspaper advertisement. In the same year he opens the first original U.S. steakhouse in Germany.
2006
Indian cuisine in a casual, elegant gentlemen’s club atmosphere – the Ivory Club is the Mook Group’s third restaurant.
2009
Life-sized bronze lions and Buddha statues – with more than 2,000 square meters, the Zenzakan is the largest restaurant in Germany.
2011
Opening of the brasserie & oyster bar Mon Amie Maxi.
2018
German Vintage Cuisine – in Mook’s sixth restaurant, cooking takes place at the top of the Henninger Tower, in a style he experienced as a child with his great-aunt.

“Gastronomy and travel are my passions. I observe the market in various international metropolises. If I like something, I think about whether it could also suit Frankfurt.

As a passionate Frankfurt native, I love the local apple wine taverns, especially Kanonesteppel. I have just opened the “Franziska” upstairs in the Henninger Tower, a modern interpretation of the traditional Frankfurt cuisine as my great-aunt cooked it. The classic hand cheese is then added to our ravioli.

The biggest compliment for me is when a guest says that our restaurant would also be successful in London or Dubai. That’s our claim. Frankfurt offers the best conditions for this: The city is international, but also has tradition, lives from a strong influx, is nevertheless manageable and radiates a certain coziness. All my restaurants are within a one-kilometer radius of each other – I walk that in the evening.

I think gastronomy is very important in a city. A lot has happened in Frankfurt, especially in fine dining. Young gastronomes always surprise with great concepts – and where there are good restaurants, there is always life!”
